On Sunday 15th January 2012, John Blanks, a member of Chelmsford RYC suffered an accident at their Heybridge venue, whereby he apparently broke a leg.
He was airlifted to hospital by the Essex Air Ambulance.
The news at the moment is that he will have to have his leg plated on Monday 16th January 2012 and it is anticipated he will be off his feet for about 6 weeks.
John has been operated on and is back on the ward awake, chatting and recovering. He will have to undergo physiotherapy and pass a proficiency test on using crutches before his release from hospital.
However, we understand he did finish fourth on the day so well done John. More news as we receive it, but in the meantime we wish him well.
You will be pleased to hear that John is now home and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Thanks to John Richmond for the news and photos.
